Many foreigners feel out of place among crowds of fashionably dressed Russians on the metro, but rest assured that the world of Moscows metro fashion also has a weird side.
You can gain a window into the weird and wonderful world of Moscows metro fashion with the newly popular Twitter account ‘Мода в Mетро‘ (Fashion on the Subway). In a similar vein to the popular US blog ‘People of Walmart‘, the creator of this Twitter account – as well as other users – post some of biggest fashion blunders and weird outfits they come across on their daily commute.
Seeing some of the wackiness featured on Twitter should instantly make you feel a bit better about yourself and motivate you to step up your game so you don’t find yourself featured!
Some of the updates are a little bit mean spirited, but others steer away from poking fun at the unfashionable and showcase the diversity present here in this great city. The owner of the account has decided to remain anonymous (for good reason I would say), but they did answer some questions for the daily dot, which you can read at the bottom of their article on ‘Fashion on the Subway’.
The Twitter account has almost 20 000 followers already, with the number growing everyday. Although all of the updates are in Russian language, the main attractions are the pictures, so not reading Russian definitely doesn’t impact your enjoyment.
If you have seen something weird on the Moscow metro, share it with us in the comments below!
