Eating at Gorky Park does not have to be all about hot dogs and convenience food. The ‘Wing or Leg’ restaurant offers a full sit down restaurant experience in the middle of the park.
Wing or Leg is the brainchild of well known Moscow chef Dmitry Zotov, who wanted to bring a taste of the British gastro pub scene to Moscow. The first branch of the restaurant near Rizhskaya metro has proven very successful, promoting the expansion to their location right in the middle of Gorky Park.
The wooden structure right by the volleyball courts houses Wing or Leg, which sports a relaxing terrace in the summer months. The sign for the restaurant sports a flying pig, so even though it is in Russian, it is impossible to miss.
The menu changes regularly and focuses on good value pub style food. The burgers are particularly good and there are interesting items such as ‘duck falafels’ which I was dubious about, but were surprisingly tasty. When I have eaten there, the bill for two is always around the 2-2500RUB mark, depending on how many drinks we have. It is definitely easy to have more than a few beers while watching the world go by, so it could be considerably more than this!
Considering the location, quality of food and the price, Wing and Leg is my go to place if I want a proper meal whilst enjoying Gorky Park. Especially in the summer it can get busy, so I would consider making a reservation if you need to dine at a particular time, or have a large group.
You can find more about the restaurant, including the operating hours on the Gorky Park website. If you know of any other great places to have a relaxing meal on a terrace this summer, then let me know in the comments below.
